Making things with a little more thought.
We've always wanted Flipflop and Treacle to leave as little behind as possible.
We're not perfect, but we're careful about what we make, what we make it from, who makes it and how long it might last.
HOW WE MAKE
We make our collections in small quantities here in Bali, working with small, family-run businesses and makers we've built relationships with over the years.
Pak Ajik,our tailor in Bali
We don't send our production off to anonymous factories on the other side of the world. Our swimwear and clothing are made locally by Pak Ajik and his wife Ibu Dewa, with fair working conditions and wages being an important part of the process.
We also use local makers for things like our woven packaging, supporting small communities wherever we can.
WHAT WE MAKE IT FROM
Our swimwear is made from recycled and regenerated fabrics, for our clothing and underwear, we choose organic and natural fabrics such as GOTS organic cotton, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ TENCEL™, linen and hemp.
Our fabrics are dyed using plant dyes or OKEO-TEX certified dyes, and where we use printed swim fabrics, we choose digital printing to avoid unnecessary dye and water waste.
MADE TO LAST
For us, sustainability isn't just about what something is made from.
It's also about how long you keep it.
Our swimwear was originally designed for divers and surfers, so it needs to withstand salt water, chlorine, movement and a lot of wear. We spend a lot of time refining our cuts and fabrics so that our pieces can be worn again and again.
We make classic shapes rather than chasing trends, because we'd much rather you still love something years from now.

LESS WASTE
We make in small quantities and keep our colours simple, helping us avoid unnecessary excess stock.
Fabric off-cuts don't automatically go in the bin. Larger pieces are turned into smaller things such as scrunchies and other accessories, while tiny scraps can be used for stuffing.
Our packaging is plastic-free, using recycled card tags, recycled cotton bags and natural woven baskets made by local Balinese makers.

GIVING BACK
Rp83,510,000 raised so far
Since 2009, we've donated a little from every purchase to people, animals and places that matter to us.
We believe that a business can do a little good beyond the things it sells. We donate to the following charities and conservation projects:
THRESHER SHARK INDONESIA & THE GLOBAL VILLAGE FOUNDATION
20,000 IDR from every piece of swimwear sold.
OUR OCEAN SCHOOL
20,000 IDR from every CALLAKAII piece of jewellery sold.
ONE TREE PLANTED
5 trees planted with every surfboard sold. 1 tree planted for every SILQUE pillowcase sold.

Over the years, our customers have helped us raise more than 83million IDR through our Bali store for charitable causes.
ALWAYS LEARNING
We don't have a perfect answer for everything.
Materials, production and the way we consume are constantly changing, and so are we.
We keep looking for better ways to make, use and reuse things, and we'll keep doing what we can to tread a little lighter.
Made thoughtfully.
Made to be lived in.
Made with the ocean in mind.
